  1. I've stayed at Tekuani Kal and have had a wonderful time.  Pilie (the owner) and the rest of the staff are extremely friendly, and they were eager to help in anything.  Last time I stayed there was this past February.

At $70 bucks a day including breakfast, I was ready to extend my stay!

Their restaurant is excellent and full of local delicacies, but you shoud stay away from the hamburger and fries as they are average at best. (besides, you are in El Salvador!  Get a burger and fries at home!)

any of the 4 rooms upstairs will provide you with wonderful views.  The 2 rooms downstairs are convinient, but will lack an ocean view.  For peace and quiet, request rooms 1 or 2, as they are farthest away from the pool, the waterfall, and the hallway.

There is free wi-fi on the premises, just ask for the password at the front desk.

William, one of the wait staff, will gladly give you a surfing lesson or take you out and show you the best spots out there.

For a relaxing time, ask that they set up a hammock out on the beach for you.  Stress will just melt away!

Don't forget to try their bar, the cave.  Lots of fun.

You can't go wrong with Tekuani Kal.

  2. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was ok but a little pricey. Most of the hotels in the "safe area" zona rosa are going to cost you more.

A cheaper place that is good is the hotel  Grecia Real.

it is close to metrocentro and the blvd of heroes. another place in SanSal I have heard good things about is Ximenas guest house. you can e-mail at ximenas@navegante.com.sv.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Tekuani Kal Hotel.(http://www.tekuanikal.com/home.htm)

I think I looked at it but ended up at Roca Sunzal, but it was because it had a larger apt. and was priced about the same.(http://www.rocasunzal.com/ingles.htm). And we were pretty happy with it.

    Hope this helps.

    enjoy

  3. I hear Tekuni Kal is a great hotel, specially if you like surfing. A friend of mine owns the place and I know for a fact that she is a great hostess. So I can almost assure you that you´ll have a great, relaxing time there. Besides, the rates are really good. Tekuni is in La Libertad. But in San Salvador, you can find other great hotels in safe areas, like Hilton Princess Hotel, Radisson, Sheraton, Suites Las Palmas, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Hotel Terraza and many smaller hotels in the Escalón area.
