  1. DEFRA also deal with animal welfare as do the Environmental Health Officers at your local Council

  2. Go on direct.gov.uk you can find everything out on there....

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/AdvancedSear...

  3. There are several organizations that are very politically powergul and politically fight to protect our pets. I would contact, visit, and jin The Sierra Club, The Audubon Society, and Animal Rescue. These three groups are the top three groups. You can google it and find your local contact number and please join. These groups are great and love animals.

  4. If you have any concerns you can contact your local animal protection authority (RSPCA for UK residents) and they will investigate if what you tell them causes them concern. (contacting the RSCPA and such organisations can be done in confidence if you prefer)

    Hope it helps.

  5. Your best bet is the environmental officers for your local council offices.next RSPCA. you can also try DEFRA but they deal mainly with farm livestock hoping this helps

  6. it's depends on the country, for example, what acceptable for animals in China isn't acceptable for animals in UK, study local animal rights, as per European convention- i would recon animals should have enough space for exercising and eat properly and be in a "baby" age

  7. RSPCA they will also investigate the shop with prior warning.

  8. Hmmm that's a GREAT question..

I can't help you here but would LOVE to know myself after purchasing a sick (i did not know at the time) bearded dragon from Petco.

We had to put him to sleep only after a year because he just did not grow.

We purchased another one and he's doing great, but it's sickening when we go to Petco or Petsmart and they have what look like hatchlings in the tank and the "Pet techs" that work there claim to know what they are doing when clearly they don't.

One tried telling me that this baby bearded dragon was "SO ready to go to a GREAT home in my tank".. I turned and looked at her and told her "Those are hatchlings.. they are too young to be sold!!" She gave me a odd look and walked away.  We returned then next day to return the crappy fountain they sold me and one of the beardies was dead in the tank!!

Frankly it's rather disgusting and their should be stricter laws on this!!
