  1. Haha no.  They still cant beat the Packers or Vikings.  The Bears didn't really improve so they will be in the basement with the Lions.

Did they improve the running game?  Only by actually running the ball.  They didn't improve the talent.  How about the passing game?  Nope thats the same.  How about the defense?  Nope.  Are they consistent?  Not for anything good.  Better team?  Nope.

Here we come to another 5 win season.

  2. Maybe if you tell yourself enough times you will start believing.

  3. Are you serious? I am sorry but I dont see the lions having a 500 season. Then again in the NFC that can get you a wild card spot. Nfc north will be 1 Vikings 2 bears 3 packers 4 lions Just so you know I am not a fan of the NFC north. So it is not bias.

  4. Who knows. They have been bad for so many years that sooner or later (maybe this year) the balls bounce in their favor. They are certainly in the right division for that to happen.

But there is absolutely no way to tell if they are for real based on this preseason and definitely not by how they ended last season. Usually that is determined after 6 games in the regular season...and even then, you cant rely on that because they looked pretty d**n good after 6 last year, and look how they ended up

  5. 9-7

  6. Nah..

Just not well rounded enough. The lions are the kind of team that can look great one day, and then look like the worst team in the NFL the next.

    6-10 is my prediction.

  7. The Lions AREN'T for real. How can they believe in now if Matt Millen is still their GM?

  8. NO THE LIONS SUCK. I LIVE IN FARMINGTON NEXT 2 DETROIT AND EVERY YEAR THEY SAY THEY ARE GETTING BETTER AND IM DONE WAITING. ITS OVER. LET IT GO. THEY WILL BRING YOUR HOPES UP AND CRUSH THEM.

  9. I think that is actually a good posibility that the Detroit Lions will win the NFC North this season. Packers don't have Brett Favre anymore which I think is really going to hurt them this season. The Bears just suck, unless Orton does something special and the offensive line improves. The Vikings will most likely win the division but who knows with their QB who sucks and is injured. They might have to go with Gus Frerotte for a few games which could hurt them. Well I think the Lions have a ligit chance of winning the NFC North and making the play-offs.

  10. A long time ago, the Lions were a good time, back in the 50's

Even in the early 30's I think the Lions were a good team.

Once in the 90's when Barry Sanders was at RB they made it to the playoffs, then the following year Barry retired.

The Lions are like the Cardnials, both teams have been in the NFL a long time, both teams had their moments but never won the Big Won, and for the last too, many years both teams have sucked.

Are the Lions for real? Real good at sucking. Just like the LA CLIPPERS, it seems that are great at losing.

And no because the team sucks, they won't make the playoffs.

    I like the GM,

    I like QB,

But the Coach, and his assistants SUCK

  11. Every team has a shot in August. I see the Lions doing pretty well, but it is way too early to talk playoffs.

Playoffs, playoffs....are you kidding me? the playoffs. I love that commercial.

  12. They should have made it last year but the last part of the season they just fell apart

I think they could get a wildcard playoff berth

  13. Not even close.  They have no idea how to close out games, they're allowed to make stupid mental errors, and even though they say they don't, they show player favoritism, which never gets you anywhere.  Look how far that got them with Shawn Rogers.  Marinelli talks a tough game, as does Matt Millen, but neither of them knows what they're doing with their jobs.

Why bring in Donnie Henderson to be your D-coordinator (a much- heralded choice) and dump him after a year?  Is it his fault they had players like Bust Bailey, Shawn "what's my motivation" Rogers and no real defensive backs to speak of?  It's almost like he got fired for not being able to walk on water.  Now they bring in half of the Tampa Bay defense?  Why?  Too bad they couldn't have gotten Ronde Barber and Derrick Brooks, make it an even set.

With Matt Millen at the helm, no matter what, even though he's got Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams (h**l, 2 out of 5 for 1st round draft pick WR's ain't bad) playing on offense, they're going to suck.  Millen is absolutely clueless (he wasn't even a good announcer! what's that tell you?), and it trickles down to the rest of the people in the building.  I'm sure even the waterboy has a hard time doing his job there.

  14. Sorry bud, hate to dash your hopes, but that division can be pretty tough at times.  Rodgers is a pretty good quarterback and the Packers were the youngest team in the NFL last year.  They are still going to be good this year even without Favre.  They might even be a little better without Favre.  One of the games Favre was losing last year they pulled him because they thought the game was out of reach and stuck Rodgers in.  Rodgers came in, threw well and almost pulled out the come from behind win.

Then everybody is predicting that the Vikings should be good this year.  So that will make it tougher.

And then the Bears finally decided to go with Orton instead of Grossman.  Neither is a great quarterback, but I'd take Orton over Grossman anyday.  I think the Bears should be better this year too, but they still need to get a new quarterback in the draft.

The Lions do have a good QB and good receivers.  It's too bad they got rid of Martz, although I think his offense might be a little too complicated to start off with at first.  The Lions need a better D and they need to become a little more consistent on offense.

Here's one way you can tell whether the Lions are for real.  And this comes from a friend of mine that is a long time Lions fan.

If Detroit can beat the Washington Redskins then they are for real.  Detroit never can seem to beat the Redskins.  If they can do that, then I'd give them the nod and say they have a chance.

You also have to keep another thing in mind.  Probably only one team from the NFC North will make the play-offs, the division winner.  The NFC North plays the AFC South this year.  The AFC south sent 3 teams to the playoffs last year.  So it is going to be hard for any of the NFC North teams that don't win the division to pull off a wild card.
