Does anyone know the PDE guidelines for student teaching in PA?

I have done all the course work for my Masters in Special Education. I work as a Mental Health worker in a Special Education classroom. I was told by the head of the Masters program that I would be able to do my student teaching in the classroom in my current position and still get paid. Now that I am ready to student teach next semester, she is telling me that according to PDE guidelines I can not do my student teaching while being paid for another job in the classroom. I can not find any guideline that says this. Does anyone know if this is true?

  1. I graduated from a college in Illinois 2 years ago, and one of the state requirements was that you could not student teach in a job where you were getting paid to work. It has to be a seperate placement. They want to see your skills in a variety of placements, not just one that you're already working at. I'm not sure about PA, but I know some states do have this requirement.
