Does anyone know the amount of metho you put in fuel tanks to get rid of water?

  1. I always use drygas, available at most marinas.


  2. It all depends on how much fuel and water is in the tank the use of such water displacement produces may differ. Be careful not to use too much about 2oz to 5Gal and don't use it in mixed fuel because it will break down the oil.

    The best way to remove water from tanks is to drain them then use a small rag on a wire coat hanger and mop out the remaining fuel. Then you can strain the contaminate fuel through a chamois (shammy)(sheep or goat skin) which will seperate the water from fuel. Don't forget to drain your carbs.   Good luck.

  3. The first answer is good advice.  I you need to use methanol be very, very careful.  Follow the manufacturers directions, especially if your engines are diesel.   Alcohol raises the flashpoint of any fuel drastically.
