  1. Um, a sushi? Do you mean the culinary genre of sushi originally from Japan? Generally speaking you could expect a typical piece of sushi to be about the size of a silver dollar. It completely ranges though, from the size of a quarter to perhaps the same circumference as the base of a coffee mug.

Hope that helps. Why don't you just look it up on Wikipedia btw?

  2. All of the above are correct but there are a few kinds of sushi that haven't been considered.  Futomaki, which is a large roll type sushi is usually 2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter. It's hellishly difficult to eat with chopsticks but eating sushi with immaculately clean fingers is perfectly acceptable in sushi houses outside of the US and I do occasionally see people doing it here in New York.

Hand roll sushi is about the size or a little smaller than the average ice cream cone.

  3. The 3 basic types of sushi are Nigiri, Maki, and Temaki.

Nigiri is the most common type.  A slab of fish, egg or vegetable about 1"x2" laid on a slightly smaller pad of sushi rice.  Sometimes wrapped with a ribbon of nori (seaweed).  Usually served in pairs.

Maki (roll) sushi is anywhere from about 2cm (not quite 1") in diameter to 2" in diameter (futomaki - literally "wide roll")  A single  maki order  will contain 4 to 6 pieces.

Temaki (hand roll) are made with squares of nori that are then rolled into an ice-cream cone shape with rice, fish and/or other fillings inside.  It's about the size of a small sugar cone, only a bit wider.

  4. Sushi is generally about 3 cm (1 inch) diameter rolls, about 2 cm thick, or made with rice patties that are 2 x 4 cm (x 1cm thick) topped with seafood.

  5. Have a look on here, instructions with pictures!  They are literally bite-sized.

  6. They are typically about  1 1/4 inches in diameter and about 3/4 inch high.

  7. probably like when you make a circle with your forefinger and thumb on the same hand.
