How is the new version different from the old one? I was told the new one is not recommended. Can you tell me why?

Thanks very much!

  1. I'm not familiar with it (we used a different book for "the talk"), but apparently the revised version has a chapter on premarital s*x and STDs.  Perhaps it goes a little *too* in-depth on that?

I did see a couple reviews that said that the illustrations were a little too...complete for a 10-12 yo.  That could also have something to do with it.

Personally, I prefer to talk with my son about those two topics (premarital s*x and STDs), rather than hand him a book; that way, I know he understands what we're discussing and I can answer any questions - he's not embarrassed to ask.  The original book that we used was more of a springboard that had the basics, but prompted further discussion.  However, that's my son - I know there are kids who understand it better if it's in a book.  But that could also have something to do with why someone told you the older version was better?

Those are the only things I could think of - sorry!
