I'm flying a banner airplane, and want to bring a GPS with me. I have no alternator so having a big fancy colorful screen does NOT help me (changing batteries every 5 minutes sucks). Anyone know a good userfriendly up to date Black and White GPS or battery-friendly GPS that I can bring with me (CHEAP)

  1. MAGELLAN

  2. Garmin 96, about $350-400 depending on where you buy. Check around, some companies have used units fairly cheap like a Garmin 196. Also a black and white unit but a bigger screen and more functions.

The  96 has 25+ hours of battery life and is probably the cheapest new aviation GPS out there.
