  1. There is not a set about amount, but bwt 75-100 euros at dusk/night, but 50-75 during the day.  There's a Gondolier that's just a half block south of the Rialto bridge on the San Marco side that charges $54.  A student-discount he said.  It's across from a small gelato store on the right (Southbound) of a small canal bridge.

  2. I guarantee you will never be able to go on a Gondola ride for the cost of the "Official Rates".

Expect to pay at least 70 euros on up.  I also agree, make sure you and the gondalier agree on a price and length of trip before you start.

In addition to the Gondola ride, take a ride on the Vaporetto down the Grand Canal during the day and at night.  The No. 1 and No. 82 travel down the Grand Canal(from Ferrovia=S. Lucia train station to San Marco=San Zacarria or Vallaresso landings) with the No. 82 being a little faster since it doesn't stop at every landing/dock.

  3. It is expensive...about 60 to 70 Euro...which is around $80 and its not all that great.  Venice wasnt that beautiful to me but a lot of fun.  Instead of paying so much to ride in a boat my husband and I had a meal on the main drag where all the gondola rides start.  The restaurants are right on the water, pretty view, and great food and wine!  I would suggest a "tourist meal" even though its cheesy you get to taste like 5 things and its inexpensive.

  4. Though it's often quoted in print at differing official rates, expect to pay 62€ ($71) for up to 50 minutes (77€/$89 between 8pm and 8am), with up to six passengers, and 31€ ($36) for another 25 minutes (39€/$45 at night).

However, make sure you agree on the price with the gondolier before getting into the gondola

  5. 75 to 100 Euros is the typical price for about an hour.  It definately isn't cheap, but worth it.  Remember, when in Rome..., or in this case when in Venice....  We viewed it as a once in a lifetime experience.  Make sure you get a Gondolier that sings, it really ads to the experience.

  6. Last week they were looking for €75+ for 20 minutes.  A cheap alternative is to ride a tragetto for about 50c.  There are 8-10 sites along the grand canal away from the bridges.

The boats used are decommissioned gondolas the rate is fixed by the Venice council.
