I'm going on a cruise in June, and we're stopping in a few towns in Mexico. What's the drinking age there?

  1. Actually you can get it at 17. Not that they check id's or anything like that. Look older and beers a hoy for you it will be.

  2. 18 but if you have a school id heard that works its not very strict.

  3. Look, in Mexico it's technically 100% legal for even a newborn baby to drink alcohol in Mexico. It's common in rural towns to see small children drink beer and women feed pulque to their babies.

However, what is illegal is for a person under 18 to BUY alcohol. The legal buying alcohol age is 18 (though places in my experience rarely ask for an ID here). However, cops in Mexico City are jerks and they will enforce you to be over 18 to be able to safely buy and drink alcohol in nightclubs but cops in other cities won't bust in like that. Nightclubs usually require an IFE card to even enter just to show how ridiculous overly strict things are in this sense in this city.

  4. There is a drinking age??

My cousin got served in a bar at 13, but I do believe it is 18.

  5. 18
