  1. I am in Jamaica and it took me exactly 8 days to have mine back at the office in my rural town. I guess how long yours takes will depend on the bulk that is at the office you go to and even so only the postage time should cause any real delay.

  2. I live in the states as well and it took 6 weeks to get my new passport. I went to the New York office seeng that i reside in Connecticut.

  3. No.  You're dealing with a government agency and it will depend on whether the information is complete, etc. and on how backed-up they are.

  4. Call the New York Office.

The majority of the people here do not know the exact answer. Because you are a foreigner dealing with your own government.

The Jamaicans would not know because you are overseas.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

  5. Thats a hard one - I went thru 6 months of calling and a bunch of bull from the Washington Agency before I just said - s***w it and re did the whole thing and sent it again thru Baltimore and got in 1 week.

The passport agency is totally useless over the phone. I tried every day for 6 months and just got a bunch of c**p - 6 months ! I'm serious !

  6. Took me over 3 months to get my passport back from NYC. Some helpful tips

When taking the passport pictures use a professional photo studio and do not take digital pictures. I took pics at the local pharmacy and they were fine for US passport later but were rejected by Jamaican consulate.

If you are downloading the passport form try using a legal length sized paper, you get more room and it lessens the chance your application will get sent back because it is not legible. My nephew just had the consulate send him a new application with a letter explaining that the boxes on the downloaded application were too small and thus unreadable.

Keep in mind that the consulate holds onto the passport until they have a set number before sending to Jamaica for processing. The website says 6 weeks but that is actually the time it take the passport office in Jamaica to process the renewal, it does not account for the time the consulate holds the passport before sending it. I would send it at least 3 months in advanced of the time you will need to use the passport.
