  1. Check out this website?

Looks easy enough...I thought about trying this once ...looks like fun to me! I may have to get me one of those kits..

  2. You need the right temperature, the right food (for the caterpillar and the adult), the right humidity, fresh water, the right conditions, and the right "flight cage".

The best situation for them would be a large enclosure, as big as a room if possible, indoors or outdoors as long as the temperature can be kept around 80 degrees F.  The enclosure should be covered in window screen and big enough for you to walk in. You would need living plants of the correct species in pots or the ground, for each species of caterpillar to feed on.  The adult butterflies will eat from Hummingbird feeders filled with the same fluid as for the Hummingbirds, that part is easy.

So, to do it successfully, you will need a different plant for "each" species of caterpillar.  If you have 10 "different" caterpillars, you need 10 "different" plants.  This will NOT be cheap if you want to succeed.

Obtaining the caterpillars can be done via the internet or insect supply companies.  Exotic, or foreign insects will NOT be possible because they present too great a danger if they should get loose.
