I was seperated at the time my husband was in a car accident, and he had to go on worker's comp. A little while after that he came to me and asked If I would sign divorce papers. So after a couple of weeks he came to me with the papers and I signed them. I am now divorced. Now from what I hear since I was still married and he got injured on the job and he wants a divorce, so he can make a settlement, Am I still entitled to half of his settlement?

  1. Don't.loo^..beh^nd..you..

  2. If your are legally divorced, and the settlement occurs AFTER the divorce, then you are entitled to nothing. It generally doesn't matter when the injury occurred . . .

You shouldn't have been so "slap happy" to get out of the marriage.

  3. If the settlement wasn't specifically mentioned in your divorce then you don't get anything from it.

Stop focusing on what you might get out of this.  The entitlement mentality will not get you near as far in life as working to establish yourself.  Drop it.  You're divorced, so get on with living.

  4. Open your legs and get on the turn pike for the next one (husband).

  5. Probably not since you voluntarily signed your rights away. You may be able to sue him for part in small claims court but family divorce courts wont help you since the divorce is finalized. Child support and custody are the only 2 things that can be run back thru divorce court once its finalized so it doesnt appear good for you. Sorry
