That helps! I've heard it before. It's the main title theme from a Japanese film from 2000 called 'In the Mood for Love' by Japanese ex-rock star, turned film music composer Shigeru Umbayashi (born 1951). Strictly speaking, it's not classcial music.

     Sounds like a piece of classical piece of music; but I suspect it really isn't: probably just written for this particular composer.

     But perhaps another responder will prove me wrong; am starring your question, and will check back later to see.
