My aunt was in an orphanage the Good Shepherd in Limerick Ireland back in the 1930s . She contacted tb and was sent to a sanatorium , i believe it was in Cork as there wasnot one in Limerick. My elderly father says it was in Doneral Cork .But there doesnot seem to be any place called Doneral in cork. She died there as a child and my father was also very young and doesnot even know where she is buried.i would be grateful if anyones knows where tis sanatorium could have been and where i could locate the records.

  2. sarsfields court in glanmire in cork was a sanatorium..it is now a psychiatric hospital

  3. It was called Heatherside Sanatorium in Buttevant (near Doneraile).  It's now a care facility for mental health services.  If you're calling from outside Ireland, the number is +353 22 24377.  I have no idea whether it's possible to look at records

  7. There's a T.B sanitorium outside Cork City called Sarsfield Court.  I believe it was open in the time frame that you mention.

Its address is Sarsfield Hospital, Glanmire, Co. Cork

  8. Heatherside Sanatorium in Buttevant

As far as looking for where she was buried - best place to look is death certificates at the local parish in Buttevant.

  9. Yeah they called it the olde workhouse first..And most people who died there were just tossed into the sea or were buried quietly in some field....You see the Nuns [Catholic Church] operated as undertakers back then and they would tell people that they sent you to America for your health...and then they would collect money..And yes they have records.....at  a price
