  1. Hi there I work for Network Rail so you have got the main man for the info that you are after, and the line name that you are after is the: East Coast Main Line (well that is the line that is the closest to Alnwick. the line runs from Newcastle, through Cramlington, Pegswood, Butterwell Junction, Widdrington, Acklington & Alnmouth) I hope that this is of assistance.

  2. What does 'duh' mean on Tulip's question?

"duh" normally means that you should know that already

  3. GNER. The Great North Eastern Railway. Try Googling it.

  4. It is part of the East Coast Main Line from London to Edinburgh, although there is no station now in Alnwick itself these days (although there is a group with plans to re-instate it). The station for Alnwick is Alnmouth which is served by trains run both by GNER and Virgin Cross Country (NOT the Virgin TOC involved in Friday's accident). As to more information, it depends on what you want to know - history of the line? train services? (those can be found at www.thetrainline.com)

  5. Its Railscot/ Alnwick branch, Berwick Railway. type into your search engine - railways Alnwick- Newcastle you will get wot you need.
