Does anyone know the name of this thriller/crime book and/or Author! ?

I read this book a long time ago, and it was so scary & a great page turner. I can't find it and don't remember the name of it or the author! But I haven't read anything as scary since!

A serial killer escapes while being transported to locate a body/bodies in the woods. A team of people are with him, one man with a German Shepard that helps the lady who ends up being one of the few that escapes the bombs that this guy premeditated & buried with bodies that they were digging up as evidence. He was working with the daughter of one of the ladies he killed.

The woman, who is the main character, out-wits him in the end. But the story is a non-stop thrill ride!

I probably didn't give the best description of the story! But if anyone can help me I would be greatful! Thanks!!!

You know what you might be able to do?  Try e-mailing some of the book dealers on the web, the ones that specialize in books of this type, and from that era. It is a long shot....but you never know.
