  1. I've been waiting to hear this myself.  Once they have a firm figure for how many participated, it would be an easy calculation.  All I've heard about that is that it was more than they expected.  I imagine they have to do pols, which are usually slow and expensive, if done right.

  2. Zero, according to this source:

I think the conclusion is that any change during earth hour is within the normal statistical variance of energy use.

However, N. Korea is already conserving energy, in sort of a perpetual "earth hour" year round.  See:

  3. In London 0% I was gobsmacked that no one switched off, I did!!!!

  4. .0000000000000000000487% of the global total each year.

There would have been more saved, but everyone in cold climates lost the additional heat produced by light bulbs, so the furnace just ran more.

  5. wow!!! that awesome!!!!!

  6. it's 10% out of 100 because the only ones that joined are the cities the rest don't...................... Why ask? :)

PS. I love your question............... it feels like you're concered

  7. No idea, but that wasn't the point. The point was just spreading the word. To let people know what we need to do on a daily basis.

  8. I don't think all the numbers are in yet but i know in my city it was 5 %, check the earth hour website later this week and they should have all the numbers in.

I just googled earth hour and it gave me a bunch of news articles. It doesn't take much to do some research.

  10. That's really tough to tell, my gut feeling is that more energy was used than saved. Turning off your lights for one hour saves a minimal amount of energy. However, knowing human nature, they didn't just sit in the dark doing nothing. I'm sure people had plans to do something -- candlelight dinner, gathering with friends, etc.-- I'm sure the energy consumed (traveling to buy candles they didn't have, etc.) preparing for the activities was a h**l of a lot more than the energy saved from light bulbs.

These publicity stunts placate the ignorant.

you can get much information in this website, kindly stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time

  12. i used more energy to make up for the people saving theirs. Don't want to make the nuclear pants down scale in power. By the time they power down they will have to power up again.

  13. I'm not sure how much power we saved, but i turned off my lights for an hour! The earth is being wasted my people who don't care. we need more people in this world to help try to save it. :]
