It depends on where you want to be a pre-school teacher.  If you are looking at Child care centers or private schools with a pre-school program you should focus on a two year degree & CPR/first aid certification.  If you're thinking preschool in a public school, it will depend on your state and it's requirements to be called "highly qualified," but you would probably be looking at a 4 year degree in early childhood education along with CPR/first aid.
