A scientific publication has suggested that it makes it possible for the powers that be to monitor what, when and who is receiving any programme. Also there can be cameras in the TV,s which can be used to spy into the viewers environment /homes .

  1. The "real" reason is that digital uses much less bandwidth than analog.  We are running out of available frequencies and bandwidth so the government is mandating going digital so they can get back the huge number of frequencies and the high bandwidth used by broadcast TV and radio.  Those frequencies and bandwidth can then be re-allocated to other uses such as satellite and military communications and other "wireless" applications.

    Bert

  2. The colander method is very effective but also very old school.

Nowadays people who wish to appear invisible to spy cameras in their own home use a technology which is widely bootlegged in China similar to the cloaking technology used by the Klingons in star trek. You can buy it on the internet but before you spend a lot of money try this. Take a picture of yourself watching television with a digital camera. You must take this picture from the point of view of the government camera in your television. Then put your camera on view mode to view the picture you have taken.  Now use the video inputs on your tv to connect the camera. This effectively sends images of you watching tv while in fact you do other things.

  3. I would not be surprised. It might help to get people to pay TV liscence too. Monitoring is scarily becoming the norm.

  4. Your belief is totally un-founded.  There is no feedback from your receiver to indicate what you are watching

(although a detector van outside your house can pick up radiation from your TV that can be used to tell but the range is very small)

TV signals are broadcast in one direction only to your TV not the other way.

The same is true of satelite.  Beware that if you leave your sky box plugged into a telephone point they can connect to your box over the phone and upload data.

Cable TV however can be two-way and data can be uploaded to the service provider.

The real reason for going digital is to make way for many more broadcast channels. (digital uses a smaller bandwidth)

As to cameras in TVs,    get real,    how could that be kept secret in every TV manufacturing company in the world.  It just aint true.

  5. Would these scientists be prefixed with the word "Christian", perhaps?

Switching TV transmissions from analog to digital certainly does NOT make your TV into a spy camera - except maybe in the mind of a science-fiction p**n movie producer.

  6. The point of tv is this... as Winston found out in George Orwells' "1984" TVs cheif responsibility is to Watch You. For years the tvs have been conditioning us to watch them, but like in 1984 TVs have now become flat screen interactive TVs that we can hang on the wall. One of the cheif reasons why they are eliminating anolog TV in favor of a digital signal is because digital signals permit two way communication, and that since the chips are small enough now a camerca can be engineered into the TV without being too obvious. Thus a real live BIG BROTHER is looming in the not too distant future.

  7. cameras in tvs dont be crazy. done cos its better

  8. isnt it to do with sall th wave interfierence or summ in and  they will use th other channels 4 other stuff

    or its more convenient

  9. But it's OK.

If you cover an ordinary metal colander with aluminium foil and wear it on your head while you watch the TV, the government waves can't get to your brain, while the holes prevent your brain from over-heating.

  10. yes! it's those aliens, sending strange signals to take over our minds.

       HO! HO! HO!

Oh no! I can see another one.   aaaaaaghhh!
