Does anyone know the step-parent adoption laws in Kentucky?

I was not asking about adopting a step parent I am talking about a step parent adopting their step child GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Your lawyer [cause no Kentucky judge will allow you to do anything affecting the parent-child relationship unless you are represented by legal counsel] will petition the Court with jurisdiction over the parent-child relationship [usually the Court that granted the original divorce] to terminate the birth-father's rights. This of course frees the birth-father from future child-support obligations.

    Once the birth-father's rights are terminated, the judge will review your petition to adopt your step-child and, if all is well, grant the petition. You probably will have to furnish a home-study and psychological report to show the home is suitable and that you are not a pervert, druggie, or violent and abusive.

    Usually the adoption petition includes a request to change the child's last name to yours, but not always.

    It's going to cost some money, but this sort of thing is what money is for.
