  1. It doesn't have a ratio, but does speak about how well homeschooled students do compared to public school students:

    http://www.fraserinstitute.org/commerce....

And this one is not produced by an entity which seeks to promote homeschooling. They still find, as the others do, that homeschoolers tend to have a better chance at being successful.

  2. There are studies that suggest homeschooled students fair better in the long run.  However, it is impossible to avoid variables like parents who have a keen interest in their children's education.

Sucess is too difficult to define anyway, so I don't know where you'd get such statistics.

  3. The National Home Education Research Institute has the statistics from the studies they have done on this subject.

They have conducted extensive research that can be obtained/read at http://www.nheri.org

  4. There are only AVERAGE STATS

The Stats say the AVERAGE homeschooler is 2-3 grade ahead of Brick schoolers by age 8

The Stats say 80% of Homeschoolers do AVERAGE or ABOVE AVERAGE while only 50-60% of brick schools do that.

The Stats say 40% of brick schoolers fail or drop out while only 20% of homeschoolers fail.

That stats say 10% of brick schools are in the top 10% while over 20% of homeschoolers ARE

ALL of this is based on the program you take or use and how well you do in it.

  5. I don't know the exact ratio, sorry. But, I have a few interesting facts about how much public students vs. home schoolers performance in school.

    * The home-educated typically score 15 to 30 percentile points above public-school students on standardized academic achievement tests

    * Home-educated students typically score above average on the SAT and ACT tests that colleges consider for admissions

    * Homeschool students are increasingly being actively recruited by colleges

*The greatest indicator in a school of success if teacher-to-class ratio. Guess what the teacher-to-student ratio is in a home school?

*Nationally, only 20% of the student population takes an AP course.  Of these top public school students only 20% achieve a 4 or 5 and only 60 percent pass with a 3 or better.  Home School students will compete with these top public school students by taking and successfully passing AP exams.  Effectually, only 15% of the nation's high school population will pass one AP exam with a 3 or better.

There's a lot you can get on Google, as well.

Thanks for the interesting question, too. (:

    Good luck!

  6. Well, since I am not sure how you define "success" I can't begin to even try to figure out a ratio.

However, there are some statistics that might interest you at:
