Does anyone know the title of this book?

Question

I had this book a very long time ago and it was quite old and we've lost it through moving around. all i can remember really was that the front cover was red with some illustration I'm not to sure. one of the stories was the skeleton in the closet or something like that and another was about a painting in a tower that's all i can remember. id love to find as it was my mothers book and it'd would really make her happy as it was her favorite when she was younger thanks

Those sound like stories from Robert Bloch (a well-known horror writer). He actually has a collection of short stories called "The Skeleton in the Closet". That might be the one (although the cover is not red - but it may just be a newer edition of it):

There is also an author named Edward Everett Hale who has a collection of stories called "The Man Without a Country and Other Tales" that includes a story called "The Skeleton in the Closet".
