Its just like what you described and its a Yahoo Group based on the comunityt that you live in. You post ads for items you want to give away and Wanted items. however Ive not seen bartering and it is free, no selling. It s focus is to defeat consumerism and keeping stuff out of landfills.

i use it all the time. Especially when I want to clear out the clutter in my home.
