  2. Makaton is a system of signing designed primarily for learning BDS in stages.  Designed by 3 people whose names made up the word Makaton (something like Margaret, Ken and Tony)

    There is a Dictionary of British Sign Language produced by the British Deaf Association (try your local library) which you may find useful.

    Two signs for the colour grey - a bit difficult to describe these.  This is the more usual (not a local sign)

    Clench right hand with small finger extended and do same with left hand.

    Hold both hands close to the front of the body between chest and waist, right hand on top and little finger pointing left.  Left hand under with little finger pointing right.

    Right hand makes small anti-clockwise circles in the horizontal plane, maintaining contact with the left hand throughout.
