Does anyone know this years pass marks for higher english?

I got a C and I was predicted a B, are the pass marks this year high?

  1. Don't know sorry. I was sitting it for a second year as I was god awful at it and didn't pass all my nabs last year and was predicted a C but thought I would fail but i got a B so either the pass mark was put up and I done really well or the pass mark was not lowered and I got lucky.

    Also I am presuming that you are talking about Scottish highers in which case Kir G is talking c**p as your result depends only on your final exam and there is no coursework and the pass mark has nothing to do with last years paper, it is judge based on the difficulty of the paper itself, lots of low marks+hard paper=lower pass mark.


  2. it depends on how well last years students did. if the results were good last year, then this year's will be higher. [if they were lower, then the opposite].

    overall, the pass marks for higher english depend a lot on your coursework. the higher your overall coursework mark, the lower you'll have to score in the final exams to achieve the grade you want. so if you got an A* in your coursework and your aiming for an A in your exam, then you wont have to get a mark as high as someone else who got a B in their coursework and are aiming for an A also.
