Does anyone know what BNSF relocation benefits are?

My husband currently works for the railroad but would like to switch to BNSF to get more rail experience. He is up for a manager position but it would be a big move for us so we need to know what benefits they would offer us.. He would be getting a manager position.

  1. Managerial postions are not regulated by any sort of union agreements and as such as completely negotiable.

All he can do is ask, depending on who he talks to and the postition he is moving to they may be quite reasonable but I have also known people that got nothing. They said here is your job, if you dont want it, someone else will.

    good luck!

  2. Agree with Rango.  If BNSF is offering him a position, I'd bet 99% that there is no "relocation" benefits included.  Just the benefits from the job such as health, 401k, dental, vision, and retirement.  Like Rango says, BNSF says "here it is, take it or leave it."  If you already work for them in management positions, they often give moving packages if they relocate you, but not if you're just hiring out.  I don't know what "rail experience" your husband is going to get in a management position.  If you're refering to "riding" trains.......there will be little to none as a manager.  He will also have no job protection as a manager unless he has conductor/engineer/maintenance seniority with BNSF......this meaning they can fire him for anything......and they often do if they don't like how you "run" things.  If he had seniority and they fire him, he could just go back to conducting/engineer or whatever because he would be protected by a union unlike working as a manager.
