I am at my wits end with a baby that wont drink Neocate and I am seriously considering Soy but I wonder what it tastes like as I've had mixed reviews, some say it's disgusting and some say it's lovely.

Input?

  1. NASTY.  But, if you're feeding it to a baby, they may not mind it.  (They don't know the difference, really).  You can always try to dilute it, or mix it in with your normal formula.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Ive used it...It stinks.  Not as bad as alimentum tho.  Soy is cheap enuf try a can.  My babies all took it eventually, they were transitioned from breastmilk to soy-Thats a leap!!!

  3. The taste isn't good and that's why they have to add so much extra sugar to it. Also, soy is hard to digest and an allergen so it's far from an ideal formula, especially for an infant with previous problems. There are also concerns about the hormones in it.

Best to stay away. Have you tried hypo-allergenic formulas?

  4. Hi, My son is on S26 Soy Formula because he is lactose intolerant - on pediatricians advice. I tried other soy formulas. This the only one he would drink. It tastes very sweet. Hope this helps!

  5. I read lots of articles stating it's not healthy.  Here's one:

Sorry, don't know what it tastes like.

  6. If you can get ahold of some from a doc or friend so you can try it out on yorur baby before spending $15 -$20 on a can, and if he likes it and does well on it, then i wouldn't concern myself with who thinks it tastes icky and who likes it.  Every baby is different and this is one of those things that "brand" advice won't give you an answer to, whatever your baby likes is what you'll feed him.  =)  Check w/ your doc office and see about samples to save money.

I do have a girlfriend who went thru 8 or 9 kinds of formula before finding one that worked for her son....but even then, he'd go w/ one for a month or so (long time) before having whatever symptom he was going to have that made her keep having to switch.

  7. my eldest screamed for the 1st 6 months then i put him on wysoy, he then stopped screaming. turned out he was dairy intolerant and autistic, however, in answer to your q, ,,,,yuck!!!! he loved it though, the health visitor and his dietitian said it had a lot of sugar in it so i had to make sure i brushed his little teeth well. a lot of research says its not good, but for some babies there simply is no choice.

  8. My Daughter was on Karicare soy, Because we thought she was lactose intolerant (turned out she isn't), She didn't mind the taste but the only issue was she became very constipated( my cousin had the same issue with her son on soy). So maybe change the brand of formula before you start your little one on soy. My daughter is a very fussy milk drinker and still find it hard to get her to drink her bottle, I have to give her a bottle in the bedroom away from any distractions and she drinks it most of the time, She is now on SMA.

    Hope this Helped :)
