  1. They study human remains to determine cause of death and other things. eg what age the person was,howhealthy the  person was.

Forensic anthropology is the application of biological anthropology to modern forensic cases.  A forensic anthropologist is interested in the s*x, age, ancestry and stature of an individual along with unique features or pathology that may indicate identification.  Basically, we look at skeletal remains and try to figure out anything we can in order to identify the individual.  

    In addition, we can sometimes estimate the postmortem interval if enough information is present and due to our archaeological experience we can also be called upon to excavate remains.

  3. Dr. William Bass at UT Knoxville is one of the world's best. They study old crime scene evidence. Read up on Dr. Bass. UT also has a body farm where they set up cadaver experiments and study them to develop new investigative techniques.
