I am looking for a curriculum for her and this sounds like an excellent one, but I can't seem to find an age range. I have ordered the Muzzy on a trial basis....

  1. I would recommend language learning software or videos which are geared toward children.  Even if she *can* use adult software doesn't mean she'll want to, because they aren't all that motivating for children.

  2. Yes i have the spanish one, and the basic stuff a 4 year old could definately do. It's alot of picture word identification. She could probably do the majority of the activities like those, however there are some reading and writing ones that she might be able to do in the next year or so. unless she aleady reads?

  3. I would see if Muzzy's at your library.  I think it's *only* appropriate for preschool and early elementary.  I find it sort of "cheesy" and my son didn't like it at all.  I'm glad I checked it out for free.

At age 4 or 5, my son did a sample demo disc of Rosetta Stone.  My DH and I, having had several years of high school and college Spanish, did not like the way it was taught.  It's all based on repetition.  If your child is a good memorizer (like ours), I don't think they *really* learn.  I would order a RS demo disc and try it yourself.  It's a large investment.

Like all HS'ing curricula, YMMV.  What works for one family/child doesn't always work for another and vice-versa. :-)

I actually like the Power Glide method.  My curriculum company, K12, just bought Power Glide, so now they have an online version which will work very well for us.  They're having an introductory sale:
