  1. It really depends on what kind of apartment/accommodation you're looking for.

    Some landlords/leasing agents (if not most!) might ask for proof of income and/or proof of Canadian residency, for example.

    You should just go into the leasing office of your choice and ask - why not?

    I really don't see any other way - do you?

  2. yes they do, they ask you for sutff in your application form like your employment, status in canada, how much you earn and past landlords verifications

    i think they would call your job or school or ask for a letter in order to know what's up with you, also they may call your former landlods

    That's for official apartment buildings, but of course you can always rent in a less formal place and u'll be fine

    they also check your credit history
