Does anyone know what causes things to be extremely vibrant during a "storm break"?

I'm talking about those moments between thunderstorms, where everything just seems a lot brighter than usual(especially the flowers, trees, and grass) for maybe a half an hour before another set rolls in. What is going on here in reference to physics?
