  1. I have Cingular and for most cruiseships, it's $2.49 per minute. If you use the phone in the rooms it could run you over $10 a minute!! Another nice thing is that texting is $.50 for each message sent and $.10 for each message received. Cingular's website is really good to look up these charges. It even lets you search by cruiseship!! One other option is buying a block of minutes to use in the internet cafes on board so you can email.

  2. Make two calls...one to your travel agent (or the cruise line) to ask whether the ship you have booked has cell access and the second to your cell service to ask whether their service will be available on that ship.  Your service provider can tell you what the charges will be (if service is even available).  However, DO NOT plan to use the cell phone for on board calls!!!!  If you have people in your group that you want to contact on board the ship, take walkie talkies!

  3. I don't think cell phones work on cruises. They are out of service range.

  4. Most cruise lines are getting a new service that is provided by your cell company.  If you use the phone onboard you are looking at $2.99 a minute or more.  I have sprint and when I was in MX it was $.99 per minute, but on the ship it was $2.99 a minute.

  5. Depends on your contract. I've found most cell phones only get reception in, or near, a port. If you get reception, your rates would be based on your international calling plan.

  6. call your provider's cust service.  they will be able to give you proper details.
