Does anyone know what exactly is considered a "good" driving record?

I am applying for a job that requires a good driving record. I have 1 speeding ticket from 2003, 1 from 2004 and one from 1998. No accidents or DWI's or anything like that and no speeding tickets since the most recent. Would you consider this a good driving record?

Every time you get a traffic ticket and just pay it off, you usually get points on your license depending on what the offense is. A speeding ticket or most normal violations are 2 points per violation. The points go away after 3 years. Having no points means you have a good driving record. This is also one reason to have a lawyer fight every traffic ticket. Most of the time they can get the ticket reduced or dismissed with no points on your license. Do an internet search on insurance points and get all the info you can. Your driving record is good and should have no points on it.

If you mean "good" then 3 speeeding tickets must be heading in the wrong direction so your licence is not clean either. At least there are no more serious offences so you'll probably be OK.

I would consider that a good driving record UNLESS you will be carrying passengers or driving a company owned vehicle

No I would not think this was GOOD record.

If the company had somebody with NO speeding ticket, they would pick them.

I has no tickets at all in 10 years.  That would be considered a GOOD driving record.

But that does not mean you can't get the job - there may not be other applicant (or better).  It is all about timing.

Most employers see a good driving record as having maybe one minor ticket in the past 3, max 5 years. Seem's like they wouldn't really care about the one from 98 or 03, only the one from 04, so you should be good, since that one is almost nearing 5 years ago too.

I think it's a good driving record. I think any points only stay on your record for 3 years and a lot of times when you pay a speeding ticket they don't even seem to add the points at least in my case.

Tickets only stay on your record for 3 years.  Your record would be considered a good driving record.

DMV works with points, you got one point for the speeding ticket, you are allowed one point.

Most states only count incidents that happen in the past 2 or 3 years. If you haven't had anything recently, then you should have a clean record.
