I believe they were in a car accident, reported in the Eureka Humbolt newspaper. Would like to know details or get text of the article without having to pay $80.00

Holiday Gaiety is Replaced By Grief After Fatal Crash

A couple of days ago the Wildenstein home here was a happy place.  Children’s laughter mingled with grownup’s conversation

Tuesday, the happy home had changed to a sad place

The children’s g*y laughter and the buzzing of happy talk is muted now with the talk of funeral arrangements.

The Eugene Wildenstein family of El Cerrito, Calif, had been spending the season’s holidays with grandparents, relatives and friends here.

The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wildenstein of Las Vegas.

After the g*y reunion, the family of seven, mother, father, three boys and two girls, left for home Sunday.

The family car and a truck crashed on US-66 near Chambers in Northwestern Arizona.

Killed in the crash were Eugene Wildenstein, 28, his wife, Consuelo Marie, 27, Walter, 7, Wanda Carbine, 3, Wilma, 6 and Wayne, 9.

Only Warren Lee, 5, remains alive in the Holbrook Community Hospital.  He is reported in fair condition.  He suffered a broken right thigh, a fracture between the right shoulde and elbow, and a broken jaw.

    Young Road Victim Undergoes Surgery

Little Warren Lee Wildenstein underwent surgery at an Albuquerque hospital Thursday for injuries suffered in a truck-car accident that claimed the lives of his parents and four brothers and sisters.

Five-year-old Warren was the only member of his family to survive the collision.

Officials at St. Joseph Hospital listed the youngster in fair condition Thursday.

He underwent surgery Thursday afternoon.  Warren suffered fractures of the jaw, right thigh and upper right arm in the accident.

The accident occurred Monday as the Wildenstein family was returning home to El Cerrito, Calif., after spending the holidays with grandparents in Las Vegas, N.M.

The car and the truck collided on US 66 about 20 miles west of Chambers in northwestern Arizona.

Killed outright were Warren’s parents, Mr and Mrs Eugene Wildenstein; his brother, Walter, 7, and his sister Wanda, 3.  Wayne, 9, another brother; and

Wilma, 6, another sister died in a Holbrook hospital.  Warren was transferred from the Holbrook Hospital to Albuquerque Wednesday.

Hospital officials said Warren doesn’t say much and “he doesn’t smile.”

It is believed the youngster is unaware that his family was killed in the accident.

Funeral services for the six members of his family will be held at 10:30 am today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West Las Vegas, N.M.

Rosary was recited Thursday night at Roger Mortuary in Las Vegas.

Warren’s grandparents – Mr and Mrs Alex Lucero and Mr and Mrs Ernest Wildenstein – live in Las Vegas

There was also an article in the Albuquerque Tribune on Jan 4, 1962, which gave the same information.

    Also articles in other papers.
