  1. Only some of the people in the cruises get paid. The pay is not to big since they are provided with room, food, laundry, etc.  The reason you have to pay some tips or pre pay them is because that is the pay these persons get. For example, the one who cleans your room, the waiter and the waiter assistant.  It also depends on the kind of job they make to tip them. Usually the one that cleans the room receives from$5 to$7 per person per day. The same goes to your waiter.  The assistant receives a little less and the maitre'd receives around$7per person per day.  Nowadays you can prepay your tips and at the end of the cruise you receive a set of tickets (like checks) that you give to each one of them. They go to an office on the same ship and they change it for cash.

  2. Some roles vary a lot based on tips (just like on land) but this site has a breakdown of pay for most positions:

Also, different cruise lines pay differently.  CruiseShipJobs seems to be calibrated on Princess: good quality but not luxury.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Sometimes, if your a waiter it is solely tips. This isn't usual however. Usually, it can range from 2500-2900 a month on most high end cruises.

  4. I worked for Holland America on the MS NOORDAM

    ( Another Damm ship!!)

I worked as crew staff, doing bingo, pool games, and fun stuff.

room, board, and all the other stuff and about 47.00 US a day.
