  2. If it's like most states at that time, the marriage license has very limited information (name, address and parents of bride and groom, name of who married them and his title, etc). But the thing you really want to get a copy of is the marriage license APPLICATION. Like many legal documents, you have to provide a whole lot of information to get the license, but what's put on the license itself is just a synopsis. A marriage license application will usually tell where the bride and groom were born, where their parents were born and if still alive at the time of the marriage, the address of the place where they were married (especially important if it was a church and the name has since changed), the names of the witnesses and their addresses, etc. Usually the copy of the license costs significantly more than the license application. Most courts only charge a dollar or two for a copy of the application because it's not a certified document...but it's a very valuable document. You would get both the application and the license from the office of the Clerk of the Court or County Clerk in the county where they were married.

  3. You would find the name of the bride and groom, the minister's name, perhaps names of the witnesses, date, county, state...
