I took my former employer to the labor board since he owes me over 10k, but the labor board only gave me 3500.I appealed, but when I went to court my former employer was a no show. When I asked the judge why he wasn't in court ,the judge stated he abandoned the appeal! What does that mean ? Does that mean he gave up and will pay whats owed or what? Its driving me crazy ,any help will be greatly appreciated!!

  1. From your description, it sounds like you have "won" your appeal because the employer did not want to respond to it. This would mean you  should get your entire 10k. Make sure you get the notice of abandonment in writing, or hire an attorney to make sure YOU aren't found to have abandoned your appeal, due to incorrect information or interpretation of the laws or rules that may apply in your particular case.  The judge is not your attorney and is immune from liability if you lose your case now.
