Black dogs are harbingers of death. The stories say that if you even touch one, you'll be immolated on the spot. These questions always depress me. Why do people always want to poke things to see what happens?

You could try burying a Hecate's supper, which is a meal set aside for the goddess. Or burying some other item sacred to her. I very much doubt you'll actualy summon a black dog, but if you want to try it feel free. Just bare in mind she's not a goddess to be mucked about with.

The "black dog" you are speaking of is called a Scucca in Old English, and is called Ole Shuck in East Anglia to this day. I am unaware of any surviving operant formula for its summoning. If I were to wager a guess, it would be a bone of some variety.
