I wouldn't bother with catching live bait. Instead, go to your local tackle shop and purchase a couple "Krocodile lures" in the "green Mackerel" color pattern. 5/8 size is the ticket.

Most every tackle shop sells "Krocs". Even your local K-mart.

They cost around $5.00.

Tie that directly to your line cast out as far as you can, count to 10 after your lure hits the water then start reeling.

If the bonita are aggressively feeding, cast your lure out and skip the 10 count, just start reeling at a speed that keeps the lure skimming across the surface of the water. You'll get a thrill watching them crash on your lure.

gee i don't know because from what i know about mullet they pretty much eat algae,therefore i catch them with a castnet.you may want to go under the pier and try casting for them then keeping them live in an areated container and use them as live bait for bonita.
