As a restaurant owner I can give you a little advice, though they are totally different businesses.  You will need a business license from your town (unless you are incorporated).  You will need a food license through your town as well (board of health).  Don't forget to take into account sales taxes and all that stuff for the state.

You would need a business license and a health permit to make and sell edible foods.
