  1. Funny you ask this question - especially today.  As I just had breakfast this morning with a good friend I use to work with and he Captains a ship that delivers Grapefruits from the Texas Rio Grand Valley and Mexico to Prague on a regular basis.

He travels the Gulf of Mexico and follows the Gulf Stream up the east coast past New York and up to Maine and NewFoundland and then heads across the Atlantic to the North Sea, to Cuxhaven, Germany, and then takes the Elbe River all the way to Prague, which I am sure you know is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic.

The Elbe is absolutely on of the most scenic and beautiful rivers in the world.

So... now, and I do mean "now" as in this time of year... (hurricane season in the south Atlantic)  So... one would sail from Prague to Cuxhaven through the North Sea into the North Atlantic and take the northern route across to a more or less (depending on the weather) a direct bearing on New York City...

From October one would go from Prague, take the Elbe River to Cuxhaven, head south through the English Channel, and just past Cork, Ireland follow the coast south west to the Azores and then head west to Bermuda... When you reach Bermuda, follow the Gulf Stream up the US east coast to the Statue of Liberty... You can't miss it!  (Well, you could actually... but probably won't.)

On the Elbe River you'll sail past some pretty majestic mountains, and a whole bunch of Gothic looking castles, and modern cities that are connected to the past by remnants of medieval monuments and all kinds of interesting sites.

    Happy & Safe Boating!
