Does anyone know what radio station plays in all of the lowes stores that plays the music you hear ?

  1. It is a syndicated service that they pay for by the month. The syndicator provides pre-recorded "request lists" put together by store marketing people to match the customer. The syndicator also pays any fees or royalties relieving the stores that subscribe to their service of that responsibility.

    There are many such companies behind the scenes in radio.

  2. I believe they use DMX, Muzak, or the PlayNetwork.

    All three of these companies provide "business audio" services.  There are a few more out there, but they are somewhat obscure as they are aimed more at niche markets.  

    And duh is right --  the music heard in businesses is carefully selected according to what the higher-ups in the company want to convey to the customer.  No song is played by chance.
