I guess it depends on the seriousness, but when I hired on I needed a background check, which I knew would be OK.

I also needed a drugs check, which I knew would also be OK.

So depending on the crime you could get hired

But there are places that do hire convicted felons.

Try the Union Pacific.  Most of their upper management are moral criminals.

well fast food places do lumber yards ,look around not every one holds it against ya
