well, you need to have it big enough for your horse, and big enough for the training you are doing, it all depends on the kind of things you are doing with the horse. Make sure it is big enough for you too, because if you don't have enough then your horse doesn't have enough room, your horse will get uncomfortable in a small space, so keep it big enough for you and the horse.

mine's 60', works well for breaking, longeing & long lines. I've also found my yearling using it for afternoon naps and backscratchers if I've forgotten to close the gate.
