  1. Interest rates & the American dollar in general are at an all time low. So no matter what you do, you won't be earning what you could be if we weren't at war.

But go around to all the different banks in your area, sit down with someone & ask them what their rates are for the different types of accounts they have.

DO NOT let them pressure you into giving your money up or opening an account until you feel that you have all the facts!

    Good luck to you.

  2. I have gone to sveral banks recently and asked for information on opening a checking account which all of them had non interest baring accounts and interest baring accounts. Each one had a minimum amount of money to put in the accounts varying from bank to bank. Each one having sometimes promotions for different products at certain times. Each bank has a web site,so depending on where you live,go online to each banks website and you can find out their information for all accounts they have to offer. If you need to at that point go down to to bank or call cause they may be promoting a certain product and it could earn you a lot more than the other banks. They are all in competition with each other right now and all desperately want your business.

Hope that helped,it has helped me alot

  3. ING Direct has an orange checking account where depending on how much money you have in the account you can earn up to 3.40% APY... the lowest APY is 1.75% so you are still earing more than the national average savings account

post a comment saying you're interested in ING or message me with your email address and i'll send you a refferal so you will make $25.00 for signing up and I'll earn $10.00

I have an ING Orange Savings account and i'm very happy with ING Direct

Also... they provide free ATM access through the Allpoint Network... you can look more into it at this website:

    http://home.ingdirect.com/products/produ...

oh.. and ING has NO minimun account balance requirement.. from $0.00 to $49,999.99 you will earn that 1.75% APY

They have free electric checks so while you will not have an actual check book, you will be able to pay bills and send electric checks to people free of charge (avoid paying up to $20 for a book of checks)  ING Direct will give you an Electric Orange MasterCard Debit Card... so just like a normal checking account, you will have a Debit Card
