  1. UC San Diego offers classes in surfing, I do believe.

    If you are already accepted you can try to sign up for a summer course in surfing - it's a great way to get your feet wet in getting used to school (pun intended).

    If you are too late, check out city of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department and see if they offer any summer recreation surfing seminars. Some of their classes last about 2-weeks and get you going pretty quick.

    Or visit surf shops, grab a local magazine or surf newpaper there and check out their ads for private surf classes. There are a lot of surf schools there. They are pricey, and you still have to provide your own board and wetsuit, but just as good.
