The Yellowstone Caldera is a volcano that will eventually erupt out of Wyoming and it's eruption is speculated to kill everything within 660 miles and expected to cause another Ice Age for many decades maybe even over a century. People may have to evacuate the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

  1. nothing is being done because there is no concrete evidence to support that it will erupt anytime soon.  i saw the video on the discovery channel and once every 600,000 yrs on avg it is to erupt.  and the last time it did was 599,999 yrs ago.  but remember that on avg the us should have an 8.0 earthquake every 150yrs, last earthquake that big was almost 300yrs ago.

  2. There's not a darn thing they can do about it and evacuations would not do much to save lives. Best thing Uncle Sam can do is just be quiet about it and not create a senseless panic.  If you knew an asteroid was going to strike NYC in 48 hours would you both to tell them ? There's no way to evacuate those people in time to save them.

  3. Most scientist do not expect the eruption to happen in our live times.  It may not happen for many thousands of years.  The USGS constantly monitors the Caldera for any increase in activity. If you have not been there yet you should go vist the park it is an amazing place.

  4. How do you stop a volcano from erupting?

  5. Probably nothing, because Bush doesn't care about environmental concerns, neither does McCain

  6. There really isn't anything the government can do to prepare for a natural event that may or may not happen within our lifetimes. If you happen to live in the "danger zone" just be aware of it and plan accordingly, but don't rely on the government to be there to help if (when) something that massive happens.
