medi- cal as well as their health insurance , because doctors say that medi - cal is not good enough and you need better health insurance, so if you want to buy your own health insurance and have medi- cal , does anyone know if any company will allow an individual to have a policy as well as have medi - cal so that they can be seen by a doctor who wants the patient to have good insurance ?

  1. be careful.  I am on state medicaid and if I take out private insurance I will lose my state assistance because medicaid/medi- cal is for those who have no medical assistance and need the help. If you can afford medical insurance..you don't need their help.. Be sure you know the facts before you take it out. All MD's will tell you that you need better health insurance.. Heath insurance will pay them a LOT more than any state run "assistance" program will. So if you have insurance they make 2x as much but in the long run it will cost you.

  2. You'll have to check with medi-cal to find out how it would work if you purchased additional coverage.  I have medicare and I know that if I get additional health coverage medicare will be the secondary insurance, meaning they'll only pay what the other insurance doesn't pay(that includes deductibles).
