  1. Depends on where you live....not just state but city & county as well......Livin for me gave best answer, except that not all dept. managers are the same pay level...in the 'service areas' the dept. managers are a level 7

  2. depends on where you are for the pay.  generally the only qualifications you need are to be 18 or older, be able to pass a drug test, and no felonies.  they give 'credits' for your time at your previous job and any education you might have (which you really dont get too much credit for education, just a better position).  walmart divides their hourly jobs up into 7 pay grades

level 1 - cart pushers, maintenance, unloaders, etc.

level 2 - unskilled stock persons -- shoes, housewares, health & beauty, etc

level 3 - inventory control specialists (go everywhere), cashiers, dairy, grocery, frozen, other specialty stock areas

level 4 - fresh areas (bakery, produce, meat) garden center...

level 5 - deli, fresh area lead associates, electronics, connection center, sporting goods, TLE technician, Direct receiving clerk, pharmacy tech trainee, optical..

level 6 - department mgr., CSM, claims assocs.

level 7 - ICS team leaders, support managers, loss prevention floor walkers, TLE service manager

cashiers and stockmen will be on a level 3, and in a smaller city of less than 10,000 with no to 1-2 credits, you can expect to make between 6.50-7.50 starting off, but you'll probably get a .60 cent raise within 90 days.

  3. I would suggest going to the store and asking because it would be much easier than reading peoples comments, which could be possibly wrong. Usually it differs from state to state as well.

  4. (1) Willing to accept sub standard wage.

    (2) Willing to work through breaks and lunches no questions asked.

    (3) Willing to do without health care, or if you want it give up to half of your already low wages.

    (4) The ability to not question management, this a fire-able offense....In fact everything is a fire-able offense and they don't even have to tell you why.

    (5) Be willing to put Wal-mart 1st, Family is allowed to be a close 2ND
